Upton House

Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm, Servicing and Remedials.

About Project:

Built by Christopher Spurrier between 1816-1818 on what was then the Upton Estate. The Estate at Upton is one of the oldest sites in Poole, rich in archaeological remains especially from the Romano-British period, including a Roman Road between Hamworthy and Corfe Mullen. Poole corporation were gifted the house and 55 acres of land in 1957, however due to the lack of funds to upkeep and maintain, they decided to lease the property to prince Carol for 22 years. Officially opened to the public on 15th May 1976. The Council invested approximately £18,000 to provide toilet facilities, a car park, notice boards, fencing and a maintenance team.

Upton House is an award-winning country park, within the grounds you will find the grand Grade II* listed Georgian Mansion House, as a visitor you can enjoy the wildlife along the shoreline, entertain the kids with Spurrier’s play park, enjoy regular activities and events including musical festivals and charity fun runs. Upton House is one of the best places in Poole to relax, picnic and admire the amazing horticulture and beautiful walled gardens. Upton house is very popular with dog walkers there are two enclosed spaces providing a dog training area and play pen.

At Dorset Fire and Security, we have been servicing the alarms at Upton house for many years, we are responsible for the fire alarms within several areas of the country park. Our service engineers maintain the Gent Zenex 4 zone fire alarm panel in the tea rooms, the Gent Vigilon compact 1 loop addressable fire alarm in the main house and the Gent Zenex 2 zone in the education centre.

Fire alarm servicing is carried out on regular basis to ensure that all the parts are working correctly. Fire alarms and detectors can become clogged up with dust and particles. This affects the ability of the detector to pick up traces of smoke and heat. In addition, the working parts of the alarm can also become dirty restricting its activation or causing false alarms.

Furthermore, we are also contracted to service and maintain the Texecom elite Intruder alarm system, to monitor, detect and deter unauthorised entry. Upton house is just one of the many sites we are lucky enough to be working with.
